With their upcoming workshop, The ChillOut Project, on Saturday 25th February 2023, we sat down with Destiny & DanZai to ask them some questions about what they are offering!
What would you say is the biggest benefit of Breathwork?
Dan: the biggest benefit for me is alkalising your body. Your body is in a continual state of finding balance, and the balance between acidity (when oxygen is low and carbon dioxide is high) and alkalinity (when oxygen is high and carbon dioxide is low) happens daily. Being alkaline from having more O2 in your body keeps you anabolic which rebuilds your body through recovery versus catabolic which is breaks down the body. Then you have all the other benefits from an alkaline state like improved pain tolerance, clarity of mind and endorphins (happy hormones) flood your body.
Destiny: This workshop uses pranayama to calm the nervous system, then breathwork to go deeper. For me, the biggest benefit or modern breathwork vs pranayama (traditional yogic breathing practices), is that breathwork is about letting go and surrendering whereas pranayama is more about calming the mind or using controlled breath to have a specific effect. Conscious Connected Energy Breath is about flowing into theta brainstate where our nervous system can reset, stuck emotions and pain can release, our mental patterns can rewire, and we move a lot of energy to make space to return to love and our true self, Atman.
How did you come to collaborate on “The Chillout Project”?
Dan: we decided after one of Destiny's events, Alive Tribe Vibes where I opened the space with a welcome to land playing the Didgeridoo (Yidaki) and seeing Destiny also hold space for so many through her presence and singing bowls that with our powers combined we could really put something magical together to help people through Sound.
Destiny: Dan is actually a fire dancer / performer, and the first time I met him at our TIY Xmas gathering, he shared with me how meditative it was to dance with fire. I always wanted to try but was a bit nervous, then later that night, he ended up coincidentally being the performer at my friends party so I got to play with fire for the first time and move past some fears. Wahoo! Later on Dan was fire dancing and playing the Yidaki at my Alive Tribe Journey events, and we enjoyed flowing together, so we decided to do The Chillout Project because we wanted to give people a space to unwind, reset, and chillout through the techniques we like best.
Why do you think “The Chillout Project” is a must-do for our students?
Destiny: It’s an awesome journey of taste, movement, breath, and sound so really invites you to bring all your senses to the party so you can vibrate high and feel pretty darn delicious!
Dan: The modern lifestyle is stressful for anyone and the more we can teach our nervous systems to relax then so do our bodies, minds and mindset. This keeps us in balance and let's is continue enjoying all the things we love doing without fatigue or burn out.
How can the attendees expect to feel after the workshop?
Destiny: Like the magical luminous being you already are! Less stress, more love. Heart endorphins flowing, energetic Qi circulating, grounded from within, and so chilled they might be floating on out of the studio.
Dan: Totally relaxed, refreshed and rejuvenated, having their cup full and ready to bring that fullness to share with the world. But to summarise in one word... chilled-out!
This is one event you don’t want to miss out on, especially if you’re feeling overworked & overstressed… Take the time for yourself to come and chill out!
