What led you to start practicing yoga and what makes you passionate about the practice?
After battling with epilepsy and depression for years, a friend recommended I try Yoga to help. The amount of positive change that the practice has brought to my life has been vast and ever changing. Yoga taught me how to be kinder to myself and to show myself compassion, which has been a game changer.
Do you do any other activities or exercises to compliment your yoga practice?
I also teach and practice Pilates, I run every now and again, and I like to do weights… HIIT classes are my worst nightmare!
How long have you been meditating and do you have a preferred style?
I have been meditating for about 12 years! I generally practice Vedic meditation and absolutely love Yoga Nidra.
How has the practice helped shape you into the person you are today?
As I mentioned before, the practice has enabled me to be kinder and more compassionate towards myself. I am a perfectionist by nature, which in the past led me to be quite hard on myself which took a toll on my self-esteem.
The practice of Yoga has softened me, helped me become less reactive and has helped me accept all aspects of my personality.
What inspires you in life?
Dogs! They are full of so much unconditional love, full of happiness from the smallest things and are so resilient. I would love to be like that every day!
