Ella Watson-Russell

What was your inspiration for becoming a yoga teacher?

In the 15 years practicing yoga before becoming a teacher, I knew that each time I stepped on to my mat I was gifted a softer, stronger and more centered version of myself, and I realised that I wanted to share that experience with others. After a number of particularly grim years stuck in an office job that just wasn't me, I took the plunge to do my training, and now feel incredibly lucky to share this alchemical practice with others for a living.

Your favourite yoga pose if you have one?

I love an Ardha Chandrasana – it makes me feel expansive, light and strong.

What do you enjoy most about teaching?

I love seeing students grow in confidence physically, find inner stillness and realise the transformative power of their breath.

about Ella:

Ella first discovered yoga in her twenties while studying to be an actor. Working with movement and human energetics in her capacity as a performer and acting tutor for over a decade, yoga was an integral part of her arts practice as well as a way to manage stress and anxiety. With a desire to dig deeper into this ancient methodology, its benefits and applications, she completed her 200 hour Yoga Teacher training, and has since gone on to complete a further 650 hours of trainings with teachers including Tara Judelle, Mel McLaughlin, Noelle Connolly, Rachael Coopes, Arian Levanael and Duncan Parviainen.

Ella believes movement and breath are gateways to personal transformation. She offers a strong alignment based practice coupled with smart sequencing designed to challenge, support and empower you on, and ultimately off, the mat.
