WHAT WAS YOUR INSPIRATION FOR BECOMING A YOGA TEACHER?

I initially wanted to undertake a YTT to deepen my own practice and further explore correct alignment, I actually had no intention of teaching. I then fell in love with the yoga practice so much and was so grateful for all the support, inspiration and guidance that my teachers gave me that I wanted to help share that with others. When you are so deeply passionate about something and the positive impact it has had on your life, it is only natural that you want to play even a small part in spreading the word.

YOUR FAVOURITE YOGA POSE IF YOU HAVE ONE?

There are a few! I’d have to say Eka Pada Rajakapotasana (king Pigeon). I don’t necessarily find this pose as fun as some others but my journey to it taught me a lot about myself, and continues to, so I have a lot of respect for it and all deep backbends.

WHAT DO YOU ENJOY MOST ABOUT TEACHING?

I love watching students progress. Whether that be with their asana, the way they react and respond to the challenges, or perhaps their relationship with the poses. Instead of feeling defeated, being able to laugh it off and try again. I love the sense of community yoga brings, and being a part of that.

About bel:

Belinda has always had a strong fascination for the complexity, yet understated qualities, of the human body and the way it functions, moves and is capable of such incredible things. This initially led her to a career in Nutrition & Dietetics, which allowed her to promote and support health and well-being for herself and others. Some long overdue time off serendipitously led her to a month yoga trial at This is Yoga, and she never looked back. The yoga practice and her teachers fuelled her passion for the body, now in a whole new way. As she noticed the yoga teachings spilling into all other areas of her life, moving beyond just the physical asana, she knew this was something she wanted to explore further and to help share with others – then undertaking her 200hr YTT at BodyMindLife. She has trained under highly respected teachers including Noelle Connolly and Ari Levanael and strongly believes that you can never stop learning or improving.

Belinda has a strong interest in alignment and preparing the body for what is to come. She likes to create a class that will challenge her students, whilst being accessible for all levels and having fun along the way, encouraging students to meet the practice with the beautiful qualities of humility and humbleness.
