Have you ever wanted to do yoga but it never felt like it was the right time or you didn’t know where to begin?   Has it been a while since you’ve hit the mat and you are craving for a fresh start?

 

This is your chance to get 2019 off on the right foot. Join Bevan in this 5 week adventure into yoga. This is suitable for all levels whether you are starting fresh or want to deepen your practice, and is for all ages. During this time you will get tailored classes, attention and confidence to develop your yoga journey.

 

In the workshop you’ll learn everything from the essential poses, alignment, to yoga philosophy and yoga studio etiquette.  Best of all you’ll be a part of a community and likeminded people starting or developing their yoga journey.

Structure for each week

Week 1 - Foundation/ Sun Salutation

week 2 - warrior poses

week 3 - hip/hamstrings

week 4 - twists/ backbends

week 5 -  find your flow

How does our yoga practice really serve the quality of our life?

Join Phoebe for a study of the breath as a bridge between asana and meditation. 

The breath really lies at the heart of yoga. Asana will have great effects on the physical body but the understanding and application of pranayama, the practice of regulating the breath, becomes a real force for self awareness and inner transformation.Breathing effectively through yoga asana can inform us how to care for ourselves, manage our energy and alleviate the impact of day to day pressures. It gives us the skills to revitalise a tired body, a wild mind and reinvigorate our vigour for life.


This two hour practice and conversation will dig into the elements of a practice that become a deep "study of the self” - Svadhyaya. This higher awareness of the Self, which we cultivate through our breath, movement and attention,  takes our practice and experience of life to a whole new level, giving us better coping mechanisms for the ups and downs of life, stress management, greater awareness of our health and wellbeing and enables us to make choices that serve ourselves and those around us, leaving the world a better place.


Come prepared to practice and study asana, pranayama, kriya and meditation as well as to join in on an open discussion around understanding yourself through the practices of yoga.

Yoga is an ancient science of universal truth and a body of wisdom that provides a philosophy for living. Its teachings are as valid today as they were in ancient times.

According to yoga, the goal of life is to discover our true nature to connect with our divine nature.

 As people have different temperaments, there are different techniques, yogas, to help them find the truth. There are various paths to the union of yoga, all ultimately leading to one truth - Liberation.

This immersive training, designed as further or prior learning for teachers or for any practitioner willing to deepen their understanding of applying this rich and primordial system of knowledge.

This training will delve into many aspects of the philosophy of yoga and allow you to adapt it to modern day living, creating for you a toolbox of skills to navigate your way through the process of living and teaching yoga. Knowing how and when to apply these practices is key to using practice to address your individual needs, achieving lasting happiness and success. 

Within the 50 hours there will be incorporated practices (asana, kriya, pranayama and mantra), contemplation, discussion and shared learning as well as presentations and assessments to gauge the integration of the topics, a very helpful process for aspiring or current teachers.

The tools you will gain for your yogic toolbox:

The Four Paths of Yoga - deciphering the appropriate pathway that is suitable for individuals. We all follow these four paths at different times based on what is suitable. Gain deeper understanding of the history, the lineages and the evolution of many ways in which yoga can be a practice.

Mythology and Storytelling - a way that humans have managed to understand the larger moral, ethical and cosmic workings of the world. The exploration of Hindu deities and the epic stories such as the Ramayana and Bhagavad Gita and their rich offerings will form the heart of this topic. This will include study and assessment of the way we can retrieve the deeper meanings of life from the myths and legends that have supported the teachings of yoga for centuries.

Cultivating Consciousness - there are several potent concepts in the yogic texts that have managed to break down the inner workings of the mind, to help us understand the pathways toward that true nature within each of us. Within this component, looking at the mind and meditation, the main topics of study will be the complementary philosophies behind ayurveda, the gunas, the koshas and the pancha mahabhutas (Five Elements).

The Language of the Soul - Sanskrit, the most renowned language of yoga is an expression of that has formed through vibration, bija (seed) sounds and visualisation. Through Patanjalis Yoga Sutras and Vedic mantra we will explore the etymology of the sounds to add depth, meaning and reverence to this universal vocabulary.

A Little About Phoebe

Steeped in yoga for over 10 years, Phoebe has a deep interest and reverence for the ‘why’ behind the practices found in regular yoga classes. Not content with just doing the postures early on, self-study sparked countless hours of reading and listening to try and figure out why the breath and the postures have the effect they do. 

Originally trained in Byron Bay with many other experiences with other great teachers from all over the world, Phoebe has come to follow the lineage of Krishnamacharya, vinyasa yoga and more recently the ancient philosophies of Tantra. 

This depth in study has allowed for an ability to hold space for the more subtle elements of the practice, to become quieter so the student is able to listen and to tap into something much deeper within themselves.
